Kiwanis Club of Tempe
Serving The Children of The World
One good deed begets another. Through the service projects of Kiwanis Club of Tempe, young lives are being enriched and saved. A service project of KCOT is to share the joy of reading, and improve children's literacy. Another is to give children and organizations, who display the inherent virtues of Kiwanis, scholarships and grants to support and recognize their endeavors. The local Boy Scouts have been ongoing recipients since 1967, when KCOT began sponsoring Troop 78; today KCOT sponsors Troop 474. The Eliminate Project, in partnership with UNICEF, truly does save lives by ending maternal and neonatal tetanus in developing nations. Through Tempe Cares, KCOT works to beautify neighborhoods that have become blighted. During the holiday season, KCOT serves a Thanksgiving meal to families of the Tempe Boys & Girls Club, and fulfills the Christmas wishes of a family who would otherwise miss out on the joy of Christmas morning. Prior to the first day of school, KCOT, in conjunction with the Tempe Boys & Girls Club, takes kids shopping for new school clothes and supplies.
Through effort and determination, with compassion and generosity, the Kiwanis Club of Tempe works to make the world a better place. KCOT members give their time, money and heart to the community. Without the support from our 4th of July corporate partners, and all those who attend the fireworks, many of KCOT's service projects would not be possible.
A core object of Kiwanis is to render altruistic service, and to build better communities. For over 60 years, the Kiwanis Club of Tempe has sought ways to give to people in need and improve the community of Tempe, which ultimately ripples out to the rest of the world.
